Student Council

At Tamarac Education Centre students from grades 5 to 8 have an opportunity to participate in their local student council. Student council members meet every Day 3 in the schools six day schedule.

The President, Vice President and Secretary are elected by a body of their peers from Grade 5-8, and  9 class reps from grades 6-8 are  elected by the students in their homerooms. Please note that student council members must stay in good standing.

Members are responsible for various fund raising, school socials and an annual food bank drive. Memebers include a president, vice-president, secretary, class representatives and an advisor.

President Miley Hanley

  • Represent the student body at school
  • Develop agenda for and preside at student council meetings (with assistance)
  • Conducts him/herself with academic integrity and exemplary conduct.

Vice President Kenzie Langley

  • Represent the student body at school (as requested by the president)
  • Serves in the absence of the president.
  • Heads and Coordinates the work of committees.(If necessary)
  • Conducts him/herself with academic integrity and exemplary conduct.

Secretary Ella MacIntyre

  • Keeps accurate minutes of meetings.
  • Reports at each meeting the minutes from previous meeting.
  • Type materials for student council officers.
  • Conducts him/herself with academic integrity and exemplary conduct.

Class Representatives

  • Attend student council meetings and report back to classrooms.
  • Report class feedback to the council.
  • Conducts him/herself with academic integrity and exemplary conduct.

Advisor

  • Oversees student council meetings and activities.
  • Instructs students on holding elections and running for office.
  • Helps student council establish goals, plan a calendar, etc.

Each year members choose specific causes for their fund raising events. In the past, the student council has even helped to purchase new team uniforms, support for the YSF class at TEC, the Children's Wish Foundation and the Annual Food Bank Drive after Christmas Break.
